Gaining Confidence in the Repair Process-Part 1

Posted by:

Let’s talk about the repair process. Today we are going to look at part one of the repair process, so you know what to expect when you take your car in for service or repair. At Autosmith, we do things a little differently, so I’m going to use us as an example.

Step One: The Need

The repair process typically starts with a need. The need can be anywhere from I need an oil service, my car won’t start, the ...

Going Against the Grain

Posted by:

Auto repair has always had this negative connotation. There are lots of shops out there that scare or try to tug at your heartstrings in order to sell you their services. Some take out full page ads in the local paper highlighting how much they care about children or pets while “the other guys” only care about your money. Some offer deeply discounted oil change services to up sell you on all the “additional” work you need ...

From the Farm to the City

Posted by:

As I have mentioned before, I grew up in Southwest Kansas.  There is something magical about fall in Kansas.  While we don’t get to appreciate the beautiful changing colors we get in Colorado, we do experience the age-old tradition of harvest and preparing the ground and home for winter.

I can honestly say, it’s such a difference experience living in the city.  Fall in the city is pumpkin spice everything, driving to look at colors, boots, the excitement of cooler weather ...

Tales of an Accidental Shop Owner Part 2 in a Series

Posted by:

Jamie Dodd is a refugee from Southwest Kansas, finding her forever home (unless winter won’t give it up) in beautiful Colorado Springs.  Growing up on a farm and only driving a tractor once gave Jamie the unique ability to run from anything mechanical at a very young age.  So as life likes to be, it’s completely ironic that she is now the proud owner of Autosmith, an automotive repair facility in downtown Colorado Springs.

I started driving at 12.  It was ...

Welcome to Fall!

Posted by:

I love fall!  It happens to be my favorite time of year.  There is something about the crisp air, the way the sunlight reflects and the changing colors that makes me happy.  I also know fall brings rain, sleet and snow.

Having lived in Kansas during my childhood, when the snow would come, the schools would close and we would stay home, not venturing out much in the weather.  Blizzards were deadly and not worth the risk ...

Lots of exciting changes

Posted by:

Autosmith would like to welcome it’s new owners, Darren and Jamie Dodd!  You already know Darren and he will still be that helpful, smiling face you see when you drop off your car.  However, many of you haven’t had the opportunity to meet Jamie.  She will be there part-time and will make sure to come and introduce herself when you come in.

We have also added a new mechanic, Will.  Will is a European technician so know we are excited to ...

Don’t Buy That Used Car!

Posted by:

Until you have your mechanic check it out.

If you want to avoid a costly mistake, have your trusted mechanic check out the vehicle you are looking to buy.  A simple test drive and inspection can sometimes uncover a bad engine, transmission or one of many expensive repairs that maybe looming.  Depending on age and mileage, the vehicle maybe due or past due for a major service.  The price of services or minor repairs can sometimes be used to negotiate a ...
